Product Identification
Pionite metallic surfaces are available in two different constructions:
All Metal: Pionite solid metals are aluminum sheets with an anodized finished surface to provide optimum decorative qualities.
Phenolic Back: Pionite phenolic back metallic laminates combine the aesthetics of solid metal with the ease of application of regular decorative laminates.

Finish Operations
Pionite metallic surfaces are available in brushed and polished finishes as indicated in the product description. All Pionite metallic surfaces are protected with a clear peel-off film to protect the anodized finish during shipping, fabrication and set-up.
Typical Uses
Pionite metallic surfaces are intended for use on vertical surfaces as an accent for other materials or as the total surface. Metallic sheets can be wrapped around a (minimum) six inch radius.
Care and Maintenance
Pionite metallic surfaces will provide years of service if properly maintained. The surface can be easily cleaned with most non-abrasive household cleaners such as glass cleaner, ammonia and waxes. Standard metal cleaning and abrasive cleaners should not be used as they may mar surface.
Fabrication Tips
When working with metallic surfaces, the following techniques will produce a quality application.
- Metal sheets and metallic laminates should be stored face up in a cold, dry area and in a completely supported, flat position. Use a top sheet of chip board or similar material to hold stored sheets flat. Vertical storage is not recommended.
- Always bond Pionite metallic surfaces to a suitable substrate such as medium to high density fiberboard, particleboard, or metal, using a quality grade contact adhesive. Do not glue laminates directly to plaster walls, gypsum boards or concrete.
- As with other high pressure laminate, counter balancing of phenolic back laminates is recommended to prevent warping of the assembly.
- All saw blades and router bits used for cutting should be carbide tipped. Dull blades will generate heat and scorch the metal. Feed rate should be slow and tool speed should be high.
- Cut edges which are not to be covered mechanically in the finished application should be sealed with a quality furniture wax. Use special care to prevent tearing or bending of the metal. Always feather the finished corners to prevent snagging.
- Avoid the spread of contact adhesive onto the face of the metallic surface. Use only Naphtha or Benzene for adhesive cleanup...do not use lacquer solvents or other adhesive solvents which will attack lacquer coatings. Please read and follow glue and solvent manufacturers' recommendations.
- Caution: Metal surfaces will conduct electricity and can cause shocks or short circuits when in contact with ungrounded electrical circuits.
